Island Exploration
[ As promised, there are three ships which have been chartered at the appropriate docks, each awaiting their passengers.
The Dragon of Islay is docked in Sorcery, as one might expect, headed for the supposed 'Demon Island'. Her crew, a thoroughly medieval looking bunch of men, are a bit smelly and more than a touch ragged, but they're the only ones willing to take the trip, considering the name. The crew is a bit crusty, without a doubt, but all of them seem to appreciate that they're not the ones who'll actually be going ashore to investigate the place.
The Lady's Promise is docked in Romance, a thoroughly modern little ship that resembles a small cruiser more than anything. The captain, a dashing man in semi-navy looking garb, keeps smiling and winking at people as he makes his way around and checks in with people. When folks get there, they'll be assured quite firmly that the meals on this journey will be top notch. He would know. He hired the chef right out from one of the top spots in the City. Not the top spot, but a great place, nonetheless. The Isle of Harmony is their destination, of course.
The Lucky Dollar is your ship out of the the City of Tomorrow, and it's not so much docked as floating slightly. The weather around the City makes true air travel a bit dicey when it comes to the islands, but keeping the vessel at water level means they ought to be fine. The man who will apparently 'captaining' this trip seems more like an amusement park attendant than a real captain, but he assures you that you'll get there without incident and that you can use your CALL Device to summon him back when you're done. And hopefully you'll enjoy your time in the Land of Brass or whatever. He's almost beat his best score in Bejeweled, after all, and he has to keep his eye on the important things. ]
[OOC: The ships are ready! To start a voyage, tag into the appropriate thread with your party. You can do this separately (like tagging into an open post), or as a single thread while the group goes through the experience. Once you've completed your voyage, put 'WE'RE HERE' into the subject line of the appropriate post. At that point, an island post will be put up with more details, linked to that last post. So until you arrive, all you've got are the clues and information given to you by the mapmakers on what you might find there.]

If high school bullies were medieval smelly men, that is.
Dave smiles and nods as a way of greeting, but the awkwardness never leaves. A sigh.]
Can we like... stay in the cabin the whole tip?
[Because something tells him it won't be exactly fun around here.]

...the sawed off shotgun in a modified holster on one hip and the knife in another might be more helpful on the trip.
All the same, he throws off a wave to the surly crew and trots over to Dave as friendly as you please. ]
You can, but I hope you don't get seasick cause that only makes it worse.
[ He holds out a hand. ]
I go by Thomas. Nice shoes.
[ The very last item that might draw Dave's attention is a pentacle necklace. If he happens to have his magical senses up, it would definitely set it off. He's not hiding it because honestly, he's in action mode here. Going on this merry little adventure means he's going to be showing off his skills, more than likely, and none of those are human.
Besides, the guy SCREAMS magic user to him. Something very Harry-like there.]

He shakes his head.]
No seasick. It's not my first time on a boat.
[He's a Newyorker after all! Unlike Thomas, Dave still hasn't learned to sense anything, so the sudden introduction and interest takes him by surprise. Still, he shakes the offered hand with his usual awkwardness.]
Ah, I'm Dave. [He can't help wincing at the mention of the shoes.] That was sarcasm, wasn't it.
...well, I'm a bucket of forgetful ^_^;
They're not bad, but it's pretty clear you've got a thing about them. Kinda old school. But they say vintage is in nowadays.
{ He starts looking around at the ship and the crew. }
So what makes Dave sign up to go to 'Demon Island' anyway?
no subject
[He doesn't really like them and it shows, but he isn't taking them off any time soon either. Ugly but useful, he has to accept that.
That questions has Dave looking at the sea, as if expecting the islands to suddenly appear.]
Unexplored, uncharted lands, man. Imagine what we may find there, this is huge.

And you're hoping to study demons?
no subject
...you don't think the name it's literal, do you?
no subject
Could be. Could not be. This place is good at doing the unexpected.

Because I'm used to dealing with demons and I figured some moron who isn't would sign up and get slaughtered otherwise.
no subject
Used to dealing with-- wait, so you're what, an exorcist?
no subject
Only if you mean 'exorcist' by 'guy who shoots demons in the face'. Which I guess you could, but mostly I just help out when the family interests require it.
no subject
[Yes, that's what he's concentrating on, thank you.]
no subject
[ Not much else to it than that. He hadn't always been effective, but he'd sure as hell shot more than one. ]
no subject
[It's not like he's getting a gun any time soon, but it's good to know that normal things can affect them anyway. Tells him alot about how to prepare.]
no subject
And if it doesn't, I have this.
[ He pulls out the kukri and shows it off just a little. ]
no subject
Ah, yeeeah, I guess that's... more... traditional.
