Island Exploration

[ As promised, there are three ships which have been chartered at the appropriate docks, each awaiting their passengers.

The Dragon of Islay is docked in Sorcery, as one might expect, headed for the supposed 'Demon Island'. Her crew, a thoroughly medieval looking bunch of men, are a bit smelly and more than a touch ragged, but they're the only ones willing to take the trip, considering the name. The crew is a bit crusty, without a doubt, but all of them seem to appreciate that they're not the ones who'll actually be going ashore to investigate the place.

The Lady's Promise is docked in Romance, a thoroughly modern little ship that resembles a small cruiser more than anything. The captain, a dashing man in semi-navy looking garb, keeps smiling and winking at people as he makes his way around and checks in with people. When folks get there, they'll be assured quite firmly that the meals on this journey will be top notch. He would know. He hired the chef right out from one of the top spots in the City. Not the top spot, but a great place, nonetheless. The Isle of Harmony is their destination, of course.

The Lucky Dollar is your ship out of the the City of Tomorrow, and it's not so much docked as floating slightly. The weather around the City makes true air travel a bit dicey when it comes to the islands, but keeping the vessel at water level means they ought to be fine. The man who will apparently 'captaining' this trip seems more like an amusement park attendant than a real captain, but he assures you that you'll get there without incident and that you can use your CALL Device to summon him back when you're done. And hopefully you'll enjoy your time in the Land of Brass or whatever. He's almost beat his best score in Bejeweled, after all, and he has to keep his eye on the important things. ]

[OOC: The ships are ready! To start a voyage, tag into the appropriate thread with your party. You can do this separately (like tagging into an open post), or as a single thread while the group goes through the experience. Once you've completed your voyage, put 'WE'RE HERE' into the subject line of the appropriate post. At that point, an island post will be put up with more details, linked to that last post. So until you arrive, all you've got are the clues and information given to you by the mapmakers on what you might find there.]

Or enhancing it. What about this - [Peter offered Harry a cube of he didn't even know what, but it was damn good.]

I'm from a big city too, smart guy. [Peter grinned, playfully teasing him.] Second biggest in the world, actually. What exactly is the criteria for a connoisseur?

Hmm-- maybe. Depends on the drink. I'd suggest mixing and matching if it weren't a surefire way to end up swaggering drunk around a boat in the middle of nowhere. [Harry squinted at the cube when he took it, inspecting.] What is this? Cheese? ...Alien cheese? [It's said jokingly, but you never know. There could be food here that didn't exist back home. He pops it into his mouth anyway, though.] Whoa-- this is good. Who knew there were more interesting things than the bar in here? [He's just kidding. ...Kinda.]

Oh really? Well, join the club! [Do you mind if he takes a seat across from you? 'Cause he's gonna.] Trying enough stuff - both good and bad - until you know the difference between good and amazing. Refined tastes!

I dunno, [Peter's lips curled in a wry, private smile.] I hold my liquor pretty well, you'd be surprised.

Oh god, I hope not. [He only paused a moment before he continued chomping away, though. Well, it probably couldn't kill him. So...sure.] I mean, all you had to do was look a few feet to your left. Or use your nose, man, this stuff smells exquisite.

[Peter doesn't mind at all, offering Harry a warm smile around his next bite of food. Honestly, he's kind of glad for the company. He had a bit of a freakout on the other ship, and okay, maybe he was eating away his problems but hey! If it worked, well.] Well you're in luck, fellow professional food eater. My tastes are superb.

Well, I'm not keen on taking the chance. [As if he hadn't been in the corner drinking like a fish the whole time already.]

They have aliens in Tomorrow, apparently. Could be a thing. [A pause, considering.] But I guess we're all kind of aliens if you think about it. [With some coming from vastly more contrasting worlds than others, but thinking about it just gives him a headache.] Sorry, I was too captivated by the drinks. Which, by the way, aren't too shabby either.

Yeah? You gonna back up all that talk? Walk me through this so-called amazing meal, then. All the nuances. [He gestures to Peter's plate full of various foods.] And then I can tell you how on point you are. [Seems awfully slanted in Harry's favor, but he's not expecting Peter to actually go along with it.]

Isn't it easier to stay sober when you have food in your stomach? [Peter raised an eyebrow, glancing pointedly at Harry's glass.]

As far as I know, though, they're all sentient. What sentient being sells their own cheese? On second thought, don't answer that, I don't want to know. [Peter made a face, then laughed, tilting his head.] How 'bout you order me a drink, and I make you up a plate?

How can you tell if you don't eat it? [Peter objected, popping another one of the tater-tots-that-taste-like-crab.]
