Beside you is a staff. The wood around you is GRAY, washed out, and nature has started to reclaim this place. BIRDS SING in the distance and the doorway is empty, revealing a SMALL VILLAGE.

Equipping the staff garners you +1 MAG. The VILLAGE consists of three small cottages, a SPELL shop and an ITEM shop, as well as a TAVERN. It is early morning, so most of the villagers are asleep but a few go about their business, offering a FRIENDLY NOD.

The ITEM SHOP appears to be... empty. In front is a COUNTER, behind which a number of boxes appear to be stacked. To the right is an OLD STATUE. To the left, a COATRACK.

Your discerning eye can tell that on the coatrack is a +2 MAG CLOAK. It does not look like it has moved for years. The STATUE appears to be of some mythological figure. SHE is holding her arms out beneficently, a number of BIRDS and other WILDLIFE arrayed around her. As you step nearer to her, the BOARDS beneath your feet TUNK as if hollow.

As you take the CLOAK, a pair of beady eyes peek above the counter and a wizened OLD MAN starts squawking at you. "That's my cloak, you hooligan!" It does, however, add +2 MAG to your score. As you hit the BOARDS with your STAFF, he shouts again: "THIEF and HOOLIGAN! This is my SHOP!" But even he goes quiet as you reveal what appears to be a LADDER down to a SECRET PASSAGE.
