Not all wounds show on the outside.

WHO: Garnet and anyone.
WHAT: A slightly mopey gem eating pizza.
WHEN: After Bismuth.
WHERE: A bench somewhere in the City of Tomorrow.
NOTES/WARNINGS: Expect spoilers for some of the more recent Steven Universe episodes.

Garnet sat in silence, the world passing around her, her thoughts turned inward.

Bismuth.

For so long, she'd thought Bismuth long, long gone. She had accepted that Rose had lost track of her. That the worst had happened. She hadn't even sought out a future where Bismuth was with them again, and then, suddenly, all of those possibilities opened up again. She had ignored the dark ones. Hadn't even looked into those subtle waters. No, Garnet had grasped the joy of having an old friend back with her again with both gem-inlaid hands and had ignored the question of why Bismuth had been hidden in Lion's mane.

Pearl had lamented that Rose hadn't kept secrets, even from her, even in the face of evidence to the contrary. Now Garnet had to wonder how many secrets Rose really had kept.

There was a plate on her lap with two slices of pizza draped over it. One even had a bite taken out of it. Humans ate to distract themselves. It seemed that, at the moment, so did she.

"Drinking works better," Loki says. "If your metabolism is prone to it. I doubt yours is, but I'd be willing to help you try if you like. Or," she continues. "We can go find something to break. That helps me."

Sometimes. Sometimes it's making something. You know.
