Admittedly, inviting the kid to stay with him while he was in the City of Tomorrow was a little impulsive - all right, a lot impulsive - but Sam doesn't regret it. Kurloz is strange, sure, but his enthusiasm is pretty damn great to be around, and his rambling curiosity is endearing. There's moments when he almost reminds Sam of Riley, when he was really excited about something, but it's just different enough that it's a fondness instead of painful.

Still, though, if they're gonna be staying together for a bit, there's definitely some things that they need to hash out. Sam's a big proponent of communication.

"Hey, brother, you got a minute?"

Honestly, Sam's pretty easy to live with. There's still enough military in him that he likes to keep things clean and usually picks up after himself, but not enough that he's a stickler about it. After a couple of years in the Avengers compound, Sam's adjusted to living with other people enough to go with the flow. And he likes having someone else around, to fill the silence and to shove food off on when he feels like cooking.

He raises an eyebrow at the smoking, but doesn't quite comment on it yet, instead dropping down into the chair next to the couch, sprawling comfortably and letting one arm drape over the back.

"How're you liking it here so far, huh?"

Fuck yes, his brother here is getting to a proper chill now. More chill even than him. He settles back into the opposing corner of the couch, leaning similar but not quite mirrored.

At least until Sam is asking him things like that and make him spring forth excitedly, joint in hand. "How miraculous is the world!" He proclaims to the ceiling. "What righteous wonders we have uncovered here unlike any other! On the day I arrived here my eyes became opened and, my brother, you have come as an ally not to be believed! This place could be deemed then only the illest of nests, and it shall be writ as gospel."

He gives a firm nod, then turns his smile downward, where it becomes older and softer at once. "My greatest longing in regards to such business would only be to bring all the carnival here, all my friends." Everyone.

He looks at Sam. "You have enjoyed it here also, yes?"
