He was supposed to be going to bed, but it hadn't seemed like he could be anything but amped since he'd gotten the strange device. People seemed relatively nice, honestly, and the idea of a place with aliens, other aliens who might know about him and where he'd come from, well... the lure was strong. That's why, after a quick discussion with someone offering him a drink, of all things, he'd finally ended up pressing the button...

And he was very glad that he'd kept his day clothes on. Because wooooooooooooooow. This was... this was like being in Metropolis, only more. Or what he imagined it'd be like. It took everything he had not to start floating out of pure interest, the urge to fly between the skyscrapers and along with some of the air vehicles nearly too strong. But he kept his feet on the ground and, upon noticing that the font for the device matched the one on the building in front of him, headed inside. The lady at the front desk was pretty helpful, honestly, but the second she'd mentioned the Satellite, he'd been back to thinking heavy thoughts just to keep from lifting off again. The wait for the shuttle had been agonizing, enough that he'd almost considered just trying to fly up for himself before he realized how ridiculous that was, until finally finally he was there.

And it was amazing. He had to school himself to typical teenage stoicism since he didn't want to stick out too badly, but every so often, that mask slipped. This was awesome. Now all he had to do was see if any of the tech around here matched the rocket that'd brought him to Earth. Maybe he could find his people...

[Oh! Dave recognizes that face. Well, at first he thinks he does, so he takes out his device to check. Yep, that's him. Should he say something? They only texted... but being in this world alone is kinda weird, even for someone who likes lone moments like Dave.]

Decided to press the button in the end, huh?

[american_alien]

[ He blinks, because he hadn't exactly gotten a picture of Dave, after all, before doing the math in his head and giving a short, awkward nod. ]
Cat state?

[dragonring]

[That's how Loki got him too - he really should change that username, shouldn't he? With an embarrassed smile, he nods and offers his hand.]

David Stutler. Welcome to the multiverse.

[american_alien]

[ Dave is going to get a warm smile, because that's generally how he rolls, and the hand is going to get taken in a very careful sort of shake. ]

Clark Kent. And... thanks.

[ The smile turns a little teasing. ]

Though isn't it a little silly that you're welcoming me when you just got here too?

[dragonring]

[Would you stop embarrassing him, please, Clark? Dave shrugs.]

I don't know, manners? I'm not a conversation master. Still excited about this?

Considering I've never left Smallville?

[ Oh yeah. ]

[dragonring]

Oh, Smallville is an actual place? I thought your username was just like - a reference.

[Excuse the big city boy...]

Smallville, Kansas. Population not many. Creamed corn capital of... [ he can't help a faint grin ] Well, places that'd make creamed corn.

[dragonring]

Kansas! Alright, that's a familiar name. [He points at himself.] New York. Capital of... whatever they're trying to sell to tourists at the moment.

And I'd have to be dead not to know about New York. The city or the state?

[dragonring]

Manhattan, so both. I attend NYU. [He gives Clark a look over.] ...are you still in high school?

[american_alien]

[ ...that's a sideways look. A slightly worried sideways look. ]

Uh, yeah. Junior year.

[dragonring]

[Oh, gosh. He's so young. Well, it's not like Dave is super old either, but there's always something worrisome about dealing with minors. Time doesn't pass at home, but still...]

...this isn't going to get you in trouble with your family, is it?

[american_alien]

I hope not. But it's usually better to beg forgiveness than to ask permission.

[dragonring]

I guess so. [He can't deny he's taken some stupid decisions himself, but... he still feels a little weird for having tell a boy to totally come to this alternate dimension to have fun. Then again, it's not like Tomorrow is more dangerous than your average city... right?] Soooo... you have any plans?

[american_alien]

Kind of.

[ He ducks his head a little and glances around the Satellite. ]

Can you keep a secret?

[dragonring]

[Not a question he expects from a guy he just met, but ok.]

Ah-- I guess so?

[american_alien]

[ There are secrets, which he's not all that worried about, and then there's SECRETS. ]

Well... thing is that, uh...

I'm adopted. And how I got to my parents is really weird. So I figured...

Maybe it's related?

[ Maybe he could find his birth family. ]

[dragonring]

["Weird" is a broad term, but Dave thinks it's better not to ask. He knows what is like to have something weird happening as a kid.]

Sooo you're trying to follow the weirdness road? Makes sense. Maybe they aren't clues, but I bet there has to be something useful around here that may help you at home.

[american_alien]

Mysterious kid, mysterious phone. I mean, there can't be two completely unrelated mysterious things in a town the size of Smallville. Right?

[dragonring]

[He looks around them, thinking about that question, then finally throwing his hands in the air.]

I wouldn't said now, but after being a couple of days in this place? Who knows, man. I'm getting a very "anything can happen" vibe.

[american_alien]

Yeah, I guess that's fair, considering we're on a satellite in space and everything.

{ He's glancing around now, the sort of absent way you do when you're trying to find something to talk about that isn't the really obvious and kind of pertinent thing you don't want to talk about. }

So... did you try the smoothies over there yet?

[dragonring]

I've only tried the coffee, but I won't say no t a smoothie. [He makes a gesture indicating the line.] Come on, my treat.

[american_alien]

{ Do his eyes light up a little at the offer of a treat? Absolutely. And then he tries to teenager about it. }
